Technology Services Librarian

The Curtis Laws Wilson Library of the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invites applications for the position of Technology Services librarian. Missouri S&T, one of four campuses of the University of Missouri, is the premier science and engineering campus of the system. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in science and engineering, and undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts.

Responsibilities: Coordinates technology goals between all library departments as well as coordinates with campus Information Technology department to achieve common goals and facilitate inter-departmental communication. Leads a “technology team” to help coordinate the positioning of library technology to the public and facilitate better use of technology by the library staff. This includes layout, signage and training for both staff and patrons. Hires workers for and manages the library multi-media and poster printing facility. Acts as backup electronic resources librarian in the event that work needs to be done regarding electronic resources and the electronic resources librarian is busy or unavailable. This involves contacting vendors when services are unavailable, instigating and managing trials, pulling usage statistics and trouble-shooting proxy server and other access issues. Serves as the library webmaster. Responsible for the architecture as well as aesthetic of the library website in coordination with a library steering committee. Acts as the first-line of technical support for library content authors who are working to edit the library site. Serve as the library “technical advisor” in relation to the Scholars’ Mine project. This will encompass the supporting of software and hardware specific to the project and the training of staff and students as applicable. Acts as co-coordinator for Innovative INNOPAC system. Explores technical underpinnings of system to assist in deploying new system features to local patrons. Works with other library staff members and departments to take advantage of new enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited MLS; experience or equivalent education in applicable hardware, software and programming used in libraries. Desired: Familiarity with metadata standards, experience working in a library setting.

SALARY and BENEFITS: 12 month, non-tenured faculty position at Librarian II level; $40,000 minimum; 28 days vacation annually and 8 paid holidays; vested retirement after five years; university medical and dental benefits package.
