The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Missouri University of Science & Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) is expanding its research focus in applied and computational mathematics. This year the department seeks candidates for 2 tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, starting Fall 2010.

We seek candidates in applied mathematics whose research complements the scientific/technological focus of the university, and encourage applicants whose research emphasizes computational partial differential equations, computational linear algebra, and/or mathematical modeling. Strong research potential and demonstrated teaching excellence is required; postdoctoral experience is desired.

Missouri S&T, one of the 4 campuses of the University of Missouri system, has an enrollment over 6,500. With our reputation as a leading technological campus and our emphasis on applied science, we attract high quality students from across the nation. Home to many outstanding researchers in engineering and science, and several interdisciplinary research centers, Missouri S&T provides good opportunities for collaborative research. The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has active B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs. See http://math.mst.edu/.

Missouri S&T is in Rolla, Missouri, voted one of the best 100 small towns in the nation. Rolla is in the Ozarks, 105 miles southwest of St. Louis on Interstate 44. The area offers many outdoor recreation opportunities.
