Assistant Research Professor

Operate and maintain thermal analytical equipment and collaborate with faculty and students to conduct materials research involving thermal analyses and other techniques. In addition, conduct research on the composition, properties, and structures of glasses, including phosphate glasses, glass-ceramics and other materials for a variety of applications, including nuclear and toxic waste encapsulation, utilizing formulation, preparation and characterization techniques (thermal, chemical, physical and others), characterization of the molecular-level structures of glasses and glass-ceramics, using spectroscopic techniques and other analytical technologies, and design of glasses and glass-ceramics for a variety of applications, including nuclear and toxic waste remediation. Requires Ph.D. or equiv. degree in Materials Science or a related field, focused in Glass Science. Application deadline is October 1, 2008.
